SWIM in the Digital World 2008
Jeudi 27 mars 2008The SWIM in the Digital World seminar in Nantes was a real success. Both the students and the professionals and academics invited were satisfied with the programme, the quality of the conferences, the organisation and the cases studies analised.

One of the most livable cities in Europe
Nantes is the 6th largest city in France, with a population of 570,000 inhabitants (Nantes Métropole). The city is located in the West of France on the banks of the Loire river, at 30mn drive of the Atlantic cost. It is one of France’s most dynamic regions and is constantly growing in size and influence.
Culturally, the heritage of Nantes has treasures from every century. The city displays a unique mix of ancient and recent architecture. Nantes is also regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in France.
On the historical side, the castle of the Dukes of Brittany is a large fortified castle from the 15th century. It has recently been restored and is a must seen for anyone in town.
In the downtown area, the spirit of the 19th century remains with le passage Pommeraye, a combination of neoclassical style with a somptuous decoration. La Cigale is one of the most famous restaurants in Nantes. It has even been described as “the best brasserie in the worldâ€.
There are a lot of places to shop in Nantes. Crébillon street and Orléans street gather all the luxurious boutiques. Near by, the spirit of Les Lumières shines with the Place Graslin and its beautiful theater and the Place Royale, where the statue of Nantes dominates the Loire and its tributaries stand.
Nantes is also the headquarters for many regional media groups in France, like radio stations, newspapers, magazine and TV channels.
Overall, Nantes is beautiful place to stay, for a day or forever, and according to Time Magazine Nantes is one of the most livable cities in Europe.
