The mission of the Norwich University College of the Arts is to be a centre of excellence in the region which provides opportunities for innovation in teaching and learning and
through research develops knowledge and understanding of art, design and visual culture.
Norwich University College of the Arts is an independent higher education institution within the University sector, and has full control over the construction and funding of its courses. There has been a School of Art and Design in Norwich since 1845.
The School has a reputation for excellence, and attracts students regionally, nationally and internationally. In the 2003 Quality Assurance Agency’s national subject review of art and design, we achieved the highest award of broad confidence’.
Norwich University College of the Arts is a member of GuildHE (formerly SCOP the Standing Conference of Principals), which represents Higher Education colleges, specialist institutions and some universities. The Mission of GuildHE is to make the case for institutional diversity and distinctiveness within the UK higher education sector, highlighting the interests and strengths of member institutions to government, national and international agencies, employers, potential students and the wider community.
The School is also a member of the UK Arts and Design Institutions Association (UKADIA), a sub-association of GuildHE whose mission is to promote specialist institutions offering higher education courses in Arts and Design and to add value to their effectiveness through sharing good practice.
Digital technologies impact on all aspects of our lives, and art and design practices are at
the forefront of creative experimentation with these technologies.
NUCA fully recognises the importance of access to IT, online information and communication networks for all students and staff and has invested significantly in hardware and software that is professionally relevant and suitable for the diverse range of academic opportunities offered by the School.
